Alec Baldwin's 10 Hottest Moments
Like a naughty little TV star, Alec Baldwin's been teasing the end of 30 Rock, which is likely to end after season 7. I don't know about you, but 30 Rock is my personal choice for the greatest sitcom ever. Yes, I've seen I Love Lucy. And Seinfeld. And All in the Family. And The Mary Tyler Moore Show. And Webster. But 30 Rock packs more jokes, love, and finesse into its 30 minutes than any other series. I'll miss it so, so much.
And that's what leads me to today's topic: the eternal hotness of Alec Baldwin. As Jack Donaghy, he's self-assured and hilarious, but he's found a few others way to be hot in his 25-year career. Nudity is one of my favorite options.
So here they are, my choices for Alec Baldwin's 10 hottest moments. Liz Lemon, look out.
10. Look out, Kevin Bacon: Your best friend wants yo' lady
Baldwin is a stone fox in She's Having a Baby, the movie where he pals around with Kevin Bacon and dares to ask for a goodnight kiss from Bacon's wife, played by Elizabeth McGovern. His duplicitous carnality is delicious, and you have to respect McGovern's character when she refuses his advances and deadpans, "Not in this lifetime."
Obviously there are more libidinous scenes to come, but my God this scene is hot. Hair sharpened and slicked to perfection, that chilling voice slithering out of his mouth like back-alley mist, and an utterly convincing moment of self-exaltation. I say bow down.
8. Vaudevillian chops at the Oscars!
The 2010 Oscars aren't remembered as particularly good or bad, but I think Baldwin and Steve Martin did an excellent job slinging one-liners and mocking the hell out of their It's Complicated co-star Meryl Streep. Martin got the best and weirdest line ("Everyone always says the same two things about Meryl Streep: 'Can that woman act! And what's up with the Hitler memorabilia?'"), but Baldwin's elan was just as winning.
7. Every wicked smile in Miami Blues
I don't necessarily prefer beer-slinging, lower-brow Baldwin to the bad-ass boardroom Baldwin, but I know when a goofy smile is downright sizzling. The man is classically hot here. Confession: This isn't the last of this film on our list. Ohhhhh, it's sure not.
6. Some pretty-damn-OK heterosexual loving in The Getaway
After Baldwin married surprise Oscar winner Kim Basinger, they made an obligatory movie together called The Getaway. Word: It ain't the remake of the Steve McQueen/Ali MacGraw classic that your heart desires. But it is the foundation of a titillating shower scene and bedroom romp where you get a very sufficient number of gyrations.
Jack Donaghy has enjoyed a couple of pseudo-gay moments on 30 Rock, whether flirting with the nefarious Devon Banks (Will Arnett), building a network for young gay males (TWINKS: Television With Individuals... Naked Kinky Shaved), or here when defining himself correctly as a "daddy bear" in the gay community. Nothing is hotter than understanding your currency in the dude world.
4. Glengarry Glen Ross will give you some brass balls, all right
ABC: Always Be Closing? More like "Always Be Fanning Myself" (not a fitting acronym now, but whatever) because Baldwin's one-scene masterpiece in Glengarry Glen Ross -- which wasn't in the originally play -- is a harsh tour-de-force. He uses terms like "brass balls" and demeans Jack Lemmon and his colleagues like a sorcerer. Sigh. Rich men yelling at me: an eternal treat!
3. Stone-cold shirtlessness
So, does sexiness get any sexier than this? No. Note the hyper-masculine stare and chest hair paired with the feminine lip-pursing. I could write a gender studies dissertation on this.
2. Working Girl's bedroom business
Working Girl was a perfect blend of Baldwin's greatest gifts: shirtlessness and comedy. With the exception of Joan Cusack's kabuki/boardroom wardrobe, he's the hottest thing in the film.
1. The gun-toting shirtlessness of Miami Blues
I've got bad news for everyone. I really dug Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October (deal with it!), and I think it's for the same reason I find these photos from Miami Blues so inspiring: Alec Baldwin makes bold weaponry hot. Here he is in his shirtless glory, toting a pistol like the coolest cop you will ever, EVER meet. Perfection.
