A promo email from rising 18-year-old UK pop puppy Alex Gardner arrived in my inbox this morning. And zoinks! This little Edinburgh-raised singer looks like he was born and bred to be a twee little music heartthrob, eh? He’s almost cartoonishly pretty. And young! Eeeek!
Apparently his single “I’m Not Mad” is getting UK play. And the Brit press are declaring him the heir to Mika’s screaming fanbase. I think his vibe is more straight-up teen idol; like a forgotten member of Take That, maybe?
Gay music blogger ChartRigger (Robbie Daw, also of Idolator) is already on board. Watch Gardner’s video for “I’m Not Mad” , and see what you think. And you can see him chatting a bit and singing on a UK morning show, GMTV. Evidently, he likes rugby.
