Cate Blanchett To Star In Stage Version Of "All About Eve"

She's done Katharine Hepburn, now she's tackling Bette Davis.

Going through Feud withdrawal? Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is tackling one of Bette Davis' most iconic roles next year when she stars in a stage production of All About Eve on London's West End.

The film version of Eve, which premiered in 1950, sees Davis as an aging actress reconsidering her life, and fending off the devious machinations of her young protege (Ann Baxter). It earned 14 Academy Award nominations (a record, until La La Land tied it this year) and has never been adapted as a play before. (Though it was inspired by the short story "The Wisdom of Eve.")

Ivo van Hove, who won a Best Director Tony for Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge in 2016, will adapt and direct the production. Casting hasn't been announced for other roles, which include Margo's boyfriend Bill, her best friend Karen, devious critic Addison DeWitt and of course, Eve Harrington herself.

Should the production turn out to be a hit, a transfer to Broadway would be a likely next step.
