Amazon Prime Launches Trans Docuseries "This Is Me"

Caitlyn Jenner's debut earlier this week is just one moment in a growing list of triumphs for the transgender community, and now Amazon is launching a new documentary series focusing on trans and gender non-conforming individuals.

This Is Me will take a look at specific issues that transgender people face, from gender-neutral language to public restrooms.

The documentary will tap into real-life struggles of people like D'Lo and Lily Rubenstein from Looking and Valerie Spencer of Beautiful Daughters.

Amazon is, of course, also home to the award-winning show Transparent. Rhys Ernst, associate producer and trans consultant for the drama, will serve as the director for This Is Me.

“In response to content featuring trans characters, we’re evolving to the next level,” said Transparent creator Jill Soloway, whose Wifey TV served as a producer on the docuseries. “This Is Me instigates a new era: stories produced by the trans community about the trans community.”

This Is Me will premiere on Prime Instant Video in July, but you can watch full episodes right now on Entertainment Weekly's site.
