Sarah Paulson Plays A Lesbian Who Loses It On Election Night In New "American Horror Story" Trailer

Same.

In the new trailer for American Horror Story Season 7, Cult, Sarah Paulson plays Ally, a lesbian on the verge of a nervous breakdown after Donald Trump wins the presidential election.

Wasn't that all of us?

Once the election is over things get weirder as Paulson starts to see creepy clowns around her neighborhood who even follow her to the grocery store.

Or do they?

Alison Pill plays Paulson's partner, and the trailer also reveals that Cheyenne Jackson will play the role of Paulson's therapist.

“Since election night, it has all been getting so much worse,” Paulson tells Jackson in the clip.

You can say that again.

Newcomers to the AHS world like Lena Dunham and Billy Eichner don't show up in the preview (unless they are wearing clown masks), but we get our first glimpse of Billie Lourd as a nanny for Paulson's son.

Murphy had previously teased that the new season would address the 2016 presidential election, but maintained that it would be more metaphorical than literal. “The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories,” he told Andy Cohen in March. “You will not see Trump and [Hillary] Clinton as characters on the show.”

The trailer below is terrifying for many reasons, but mainly because it makes you relive election night.

American Horror Story: Cult premieres September 5 on FX.
