Americans More Offended By Rainbow Flag Than Confederate Flag

Public Policy Polling quizzed 649 people about their preference, asking them two questions:"Do you think high school students should be allowed to wear confederate flags to school, or not?" and "Do you think high school students should be allowed to wear gay pride flags to school, or not?"

The result? Some 43% said teens should be allowed to wear the stars and bars to class, while only 28% thought the LGBT symbol was acceptable.  A stunning 57% of those polled believed the rainbow should end at the classroom door.

"Folks, the Confederate flag is no better than a Swastika," wrote Washington Post blogger Jonathan Capehart, who is both African American and gay. "It is a symbol of white supremacy, hate and oppression that has no place in American political discourse... Meanwhile, the rainbow that is the gay pride flag symbolizes inclusion and acceptance."

Last month, two students were suspended in Washington State for wearing Confederate flags to school—a response to a classmate wearing the rainbow flag earlier in the week. More recently, Kanye West was seen sporting the Civil War symbol, claiming he was appropriating it for himself.

You can have it, Yeezus.
