BFFs Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen could have been more than friends when they first met, if only the Bravo host hadn’t immediately broken one of Cooper’s cardinal dating rules.
Appearing with Kelly Ripa last night on Watch What Happens Live, Cooper revealed that he almost went on a blind date with Cohen several years ago, until Andy did the one thing that the CNN news anchor considers to be a deal breaker — he instantly asked about his socialite mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.
“Andy and I were first set up on a blind date, which never happened cause we had a phone call and after two minutes I was like, ’I’m not dating this guy,'” Cooper rememebered. “He broke my cardinal rule…He mentioned my mom within the first four sentences of meeting me.”
This serves as a good dating lesson in general—when you first meet a man, try to focus more on him and less on his mother.
