Anderson Cooper Destroys Anti-Gay Arizona Senator's Arguments: WATCH

anderson cooper

"We don't want to discriminate against anybody," says Arizona GOP senator Al Melvin pathetically defending Arizona's new bill that would allow for privately and publicly owned businesses to discriminate against gay people.  A visibly annoyed (albeit eternally cool and respectful) Anderson Cooper goes in for the kill early in this lengthy interview in which he staunchly destroys the bigoted logic of the new "Turn the Gay Away" laws.

Melvin's logic in the interview panders to the far-right idea that "religious freedom" is being threatened by LGBT individuals who seek to be protected from oppression.  Luckily, Anderson has had it.  Officially.

Choice evisceration:

Cooper: "You can't cite one example where religious freedom is under attack in Arizona."

Melvin: "Not now, no, but how 'bout tomorrow?"

Cooper: "I don't understand what that means."
