Andrea Constand Breaks Silence About Sexual Assault: "I Was Crying Out for This to Stop"

Constand's graphic testimony led jurors to find Bill Cosby guilty on three counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Andrea Constand, whose testimony regarding Bill Cosby's sexual misconduct led to his conviction in April, has opened up for the first time about her graphic sexual assault.

Constand, who identifies as a lesbian, was one of dozens of women who claimed Cosby drugged and raped them. Her accusations led to a court case that ended in mistrial in last June. But last month, jurors in a re-trial found Cosby guilty on three counts of aggravated sexual assault. (The sitcom star now faces 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000 per count.)

Now, Constand, 45, is speaking candidly about the incident for the first time in 13 years, sitting down with NBC News' Kate Snow for an in-depth interview that's slated to air this Friday on Dateline.

In a clip from the interview, Constand recalls Cosby offering her drugs to help her relax: "He had three blue pills in his hand," she told Snow, "and he put his hand out, and I said, 'What are those?'"

His reply was unsettling: "He said, 'They're your friends, just put 'em down,'" she recalled.

But Constand trusted Cosby, hoping the pills would calm her down. What happened next changed her life forever: Within a half an hour, she was slurring her words and unable to stand. Cosby took her to a couch in his Pennsylvania home and sexually assaulted her.

"My mind [was] saying, 'Move your hands, kick, can you do anything?'" she recalled. "I was limp. I was a limp noodle... I was crying out inside in my throat and in my mind for this to stop, and I couldn’t do anything."

Constand says she woke up hours later fully aware of what had happened. However, like many survivors, she felt ashamed, staying silent for years because she didn't think anybody would believe that a prominent figure like Cosby could sexually assault someone.

Watch Constand's full interview this Friday, June 1 at 10/9c on Dateline.
