Angela Lansbury Delivers Magical "Beauty And The Beast" Performance

The real Mrs. Potts surprised guests at the film's 25th anniversary screening in New York.

In 1991, the first public screening of Disney's Beauty and the Beast was held at New York's Lincoln Center where the House of Mouse showed an unfinished work print of the animated musical.

The film would go on to become the first animated feature nominated for Best Picture and is now considered a modern classic.

On Sunday night, the Film Society of Lincoln Center hosted a 25th anniversary screening of Beauty and the Beast with a Q&A beforehand featuring some of the film's voice talent: Paige O’Hara (Belle), Robby Benson (Beast), Richard White (Gaston), and Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts).

After the conversation ended the audience was treated to a medley of Disney songs performed by Alan Menken on the piano. Lansbury then came out to surprise everyone by singing the Oscar-winning title song—just as she did in the film—sounding just as perfect a quarter of a century later.

She even adds the "Run along to the cupboard now, Chip" line from the movie at the end of the song!
