Angelica Ross to Star in Upcoming Web Series "King Ester"
Pose star Angelica Ross has a new role. She is joining the cast of "King Ester," a new web series focusing on black transgender women fighting to survive and escape Hurricane Katrina.
As Shadow and Act reports, Ross will be both co-starring and working as an executive producer for the show.
King Ester is set to follow a daring transgender woman, Ester (played by newcomer DeJaye Joseph), in New Orleans as she navigates her sexual identity and her quest for stardom, while the destruction of Hurricane Katrina threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. Janet Hubert, best known for her role in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, co-stars.
Dui Jarrad, the series writer and director, spoke highly of Ross joining the project: “I couldn’t be more excited to have Angelica join the King Ester Family. Her activism in the community, as well as her work on Pose and the Emmy-nominated Her Story, makes her the perfect fit. I’m excited she sees the promise in this important story.”
King Ester is expected to premiere in 2019.
