Anjelica Huston is joining the cast of Transparent when the show returns for its second season in December, Variety is reporting.

Series creator Jill Soloway revealed Huston will appear in three episodes as a Maura's "new friend"—and possible love interest.

“They have a lot of chemistry…palpable chemistry!” Soloway said of Huston and Jeffrey Tambor. “It was palpable. I was directing them together and I was watching through the monitor.”

She added that the actress, who last appeared on NBC's Smash, could return for the show's third season, which has already been approved by Amazon.

Transparent is heavily nominated at tonight's Emmy Awards, with the show up for Best Comedy, Tambor nominated for Best Actor and Soloway up for directing and writing honors. Bradley Whitford already won for guest actor at the Creative Arts Emmys last week.
