Ann Curry Returns To 'Today,' Kinda

Okay we know, we talked aboutToday yesterday, but it seems this fairly innocuous morning show is the most interesting thing we got going on this holiday season. And today, Today (ha!) did something we never, ever expected -- allowed Ann Curry to return.
Now we know Ms. Curry said she was staying on to do pieces from time to time during her tearful farewell, but we assumed a few things right after her firing, not her landing big interviews. And today, she scored a major one -- Hobbit director Peter Jackson.
Ann journeyed to New Zealand to interview the Oscar winner, and it was just what you would expect from an Ann Curry interview. Silly, fun, kind of boring, but far, far better than most of the junk that has been on Today recently. She even got to put on a silly hat and stand in front of a green screen!
Ann was never in studio of course, probably as producers are afraid to allow her in a room with Matt Lauer and sharp objects, but she will be back tomorrow with more from her interview! And the interview will run in its entirety on Rock Center (that's still on?) this evening.
Can we bring Ann back though? We miss her.
