Anti-Gay Assailants Continue To Terrorize Dallas, Smash Skull Of 12th Victim In Three Months

Police remain clueless and have failed to arrest any suspects.

Dallas police were standing around scratching their heads last night as yet another gay man was assaulted and brutally beaten, at least the 12th victim in a string of terrifying attacks that have rocked the Oak Lawn gayborhood in the last three months.

Geoffrey Hubbard, a 25-year-old server at the local Cedar Springs Taphouse, told WFAA that he was walking on the sidewalk around 11pm last night on his way to a friend's house when he was jumped by a single assailant.

Hubbard said the assailant hit him with an unknown object and went through his pockets, robbing him. He was able to get away by squeezing underneath a parked car where he lingered until the assailant fled.

Hubbard was able to flag down a passing motorist, who turned out to be an off-duty police officer. He was driven to the ICU at Baylor University Medical Center where he remains today.

"A little bit of air got in my skull," he told WFAA from his hospital bed, noting that he'll be in the hospital for a few days recovering from a skull fracture.

Dallas police still do not have a suspect in the string of cases and claim they have increased patrols in the area, though their "patrolling" still doesn't seem to be enough. Residents and community leaders have blamed the attacks on improper police patrolling and a severe lack of overhead lighting.

A $5,000 reward offered by police last month has not been increased, to the dismay of victim's advocates.

"Dallas police have been very good about what they've done in the neighborhood, but, at the same time, these bad guys seem to be a step ahead of them," Resource Center Communication Director Rafael McDonnell told NBC 5.

"You're going to get caught. You will slip up. And you will do the punishment. And we're going to hold you to it."
