Apple Announces iPhone 6, Apple Watch. Just Take Our Money Already
Early-adopters called in sick today as Apple announced the arrival of two new iPhones and the long-awaited Apple Watch.
The iPhone 6 is larger and flatter than the 5, with a 4.7-inch screen that curves around the edges. The iPhone 6 Plus screen measures in at 5.5 inches and has more than two million pixels, as compared to the 6's one million-plus pixels.
The camera on both new iterations is enhanced with image stabilization and other functionality improvements.
The iPhone 6 will retail $199 for a 16 GB model, $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB. The iPhone 6 Plus is priced at $299 (16GB), $399 (64GB) and $499 (128GB). Both phones come in gold, silver and space gray.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also rolled out the Apple Watch, the company's first foray into wearable tech.
Calling the customizable timepiece as "the most personal device we've ever created," Cook said that "because you wear it, we invented new intimate ways to connect and communicate directly from your wrist and it works seamless with iPhone."
Apple is also dipping into the mobile-payment business, with the introduction of Apple Pay, which will allow users to make purchases from their phones without sharing personal information. Cook called the way Americans currently make online payments "antiquated."
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available to ship on September 19 but, as you've probably guessed, people are already lining up. Hey, save us one!
