Apple Approves Distinc.tt, New App For LGBT Kids Ages 12 And Up

Most of the social-media sites and apps aimed at LGBT folk have a, shall we say, adult bent. But Apple has just approved a more family-friendly app for the iPhone that lets users find the trendiest spots in town before the straights get ahold of them.

With an emphasis on good taste, Distinc.tt is sleekly designed to easily lead users to the right event, restaurant, party, or vacation spot for the moment or upcoming calendar, where their friends are or plan to go soon.

[Distinc.tt] uses real-time collective knowledge to connect trendsetting crowds and travelers to the places and people that best reflect their distinct interests.

[Distinc.tt is] the only app that combines social networks, event ticketing, attendee visibility, location-based services, and hot-spot locating with predictability and in real time.

While Distinc.tt was not specifically designed for young people, CEO Michael Belkin describes it as the app "you can take home to mom," and Apple approved the social utility for anyone ages 12 and up.  It is decidedly less sexual than Grindr, Scruff, Hornet and the like, and if the algorithms work as intended, Belkin hopes Distinc.tt will supplant your "well-connected, in-the-know, VIP gay friend."

Distinc.tt is available now for free on iTunes. A version for the Android is in the works.
