Apple iOs 6: The Good And The Bad

[caption id="attachment_71294" align="aligncenter" width="607"]Apple's new operating system iOs 6 America runs on Google, but Apple has dropped out of that race.[/caption]

We had a feeling there would be some backlash to Apple's iOs 6 when it was announced along with the new iPhone, iPad and other shiny, tiny, products. The biggest complaint seems to be the Google Maps apps issue, but there are some things that people are finding entertaining on the new system. Let's give it a look-see:

  • Google Maps Replaced with TomTom: There are no walking or public transportation options for directions, but it gets worse: TomTom doesn't always know major buildings/locations.  A friend of ours who thinks Apple products are better than almost everything other than sex said,  "(I) wonder how long their contract with TomTom is. Or if the fact that TomTom's user base is jumping exponentially now, if that will improve their data (one analyst said that it will take 18 months for them to use their new users to create data on par). I also tried maps.google.com on the iPhone and it's not terrible. Walking directions are text (as opposed to step by step thru the map). No word on when they will release the native app."  -And what that means is: it will take a while before TomTom gets to the point of Google Maps, and Google might not even update their map app to iOs 6.
  • Email Attachments Expanded: Just realized you want to send a sexy photo along with that email? You can finally add photos and videos to emails while writing email. You still can't email lists though, so there goes your hope of sending emails with videos to everyone you know.
  • Siri Is Like Your Rich Boyfriend: Siri still doesn't always understand what you're saying, but now she at least knows more about sports, dining and movies.
  • Facebook Is Everywhere: You can now "Like" all sorts of cr...apps. Facebook is integrated into photos, and can also integrate into your contacts, but be careful because it will override your current contact list, or give you double entries - which is not as sexy as it sounds.
  • Apple's Apps Are There To Stay: The first party apps that come pre-loaded on your iPhone are still unable to be moved and will clog your screen. I'm looking at you Newsstand: until you give me an RSS feed you are totally and utterly useless to me.
  • So, like every new iOs release, there are good and bad things. My recommendation, wait a few weeks for people to test out the bugs and figure out workarounds, then download it. If you're phone is older or already not running that great, you might want to wait for the second release, which is often less buggy.

I'm gonna go ask Siri about a nice place for dinner, and why she updated my twitter to, "I'm having a nice gay."

    Day Siri, I said day.
