We were all saddened to hear of the break-up of America's most saccharine couple, Katy Perry and John Mayer.  But if EntertainmentWise is to be believed, Perry might already be moving on.  Has Katy Kat chosen her BFF Robert Pattinson as her new beau?  Although everyone's favorite fame-hating vampire bro and the Candy Queen might not seem like a likely pairing, the two may have been spotted canoodling, with numerous rumors speculating about their "friends with benefits" status.

Said one insider of the new duo:

Rob and Katy have never stopped being in touch - she loves the attention, but also thinks he's really sexy and funny ...  The texting stepped up in January when things started going bad between Katy and John. Rob's been a real shoulder for her to cry on. Since he's been single, though, the texts have hotted up - she loves drunk texting him and they're always flirty ... They've always kept their hook-ups discreet. They're just friends - with benefits - at the moment.

While we are dubious of these nameless insiders and their spurious gossip-mongering, this one feels like it might have a bit of truth to it.  Then again, Perry has previously denied the existence of a romance between her and the sparkly supermodel.

Her alibi?  Flatulence.  Last summer Perry told Elle Magazine:

Okay, so here's the proof there was never anything going on with me and Robert Pattinson ...  I fart in front of him. Properly fart. And I never, ever fart in front of a man I am dating. Girl, there ain't no shame in sleeping with him either.  Most of America wants to.
