Arizona Students Given Homophobic Punishment

Please — anything but this! (Courtesy of Facebook)

In a move that shows how open and accepting our society is, Arizona principal Tim Richards forced two male students to hold hands as a punishment for fighting.

Wow. This is worse than when students would get hit with rulers. Holding hands? With someone of the same sex? How utterly humiliating.

Charles Crockett, a 14-year-old freshman, and a boy named Julio, a sophomore, got into a fight at Westwood High in Mesa on Wednesday. As a consequence, the principal told them they could either choose to be suspended or publicly humiliated by holding hands in front of their classmates for an hour.

We have nothing against public humiliation, but come on. Isn’t homophobia rampant enough without making it seem like two guys holding hands is a punishment?
