Dixieland Supports Gay Marriage, Y’all!

It looks like the Bible belt may have a rhinestone buckle. Picking up on the amazingly awesome example set by our awesomely amazing president, Atlanta mayor, Kasim Reed, has publicly come out to support gay marriage:
“Today marks an important day as I announce my support for marriage equality. It is well known that I have gone through a good bit of reflection on this issue, but listening to the stories of so many people that I know and care about has strengthened my belief that marriage is a fundamental right for everyone.”
For anyone who grew up in the south where homophobia is part of the fabric of society (along with racism and misogyny - and before y’all get your Wednesday panties in a wad, just know that many of us here at NewNowNext grew up in that neck of the woods, so that is an informed opinion), this is a truly shocking moment in time.
It seems that Scarlett O’Hara was right. Tomorrow (really) is another day.
