A boycott by all decent Americans isn’t enough now that Mike Huckabee has declared August 1st National Eat Chik-fil-A day (is he, like, even allowed to do that?). In order to fight back against the chain that un-apologetically donates to anti-gay organizations, an activist named Carly McGehee has started a movement to inundate Chick-fil-A restaurants with same-sex kissers on Friday, August 3rd. From the Facebook event page:
“Unless you’ve been living under a rock this week you’ll have noticed that Chick Fil A has officially come out against the LGBTQ community. (For those of you who have been living under a rock, or just want to read it again, here’s the article.)
In honor of their support for love, equality, and the real definition of family, we’re holding a NATIONAL Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A’s around the country. So grab a friend (or 20) and head out to your nearest Chick Fil A! And don’t forget to post photos/videos of it here! For all the world to see!”
The event announcement comes just days after Jim Henson’s company, who has a partnership with Chick-fil-A, severed all future ties with the restaurant chain. Some good video should come out of this. But note to those who plan to participate: BE SURE NOT TO BUY ANYTHING from Chick-fil-A while you’re there! That would kind of defeat the purpose. Eat first!
