How You Can Help Secure Marriage Equality In Australia

Voters have until August 24 to register to vote in the public survey.

As Australia gears up for a public vote on marriage equality, homophobic literature has already been appearing throughout the country, including a poster in Melbourne that reads “stop the fags.”

The frightening campaign should be a rallying call for all Australian citizens to participate in the ballot.

Here’s what you can do right now:

Got Five Minutes?

If you’re eligible to vote in Australia, heed Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe’s advice and make sure you're enrolled to vote. You’ve got until August 24 to get your personal details in order.

Head to the Australian Electoral Commission site here.

If you’re outside Australia, join the effort on social media to spread the word to voters in the country.
