Woman Gets Life Sentence for Murdering Bisexual Partner

In 2013, Lindy Yvonne Williams killed and dismembered her partner, a bisexual man named George Gerbic.

An Australian woman has been found guilty of the murder of her bisexual partner nearly five years after his death, reports News.com.au.

Lindy Yvonne Williams, 60, went on trial last week for the gruesome murder of George Gerbic, her partner. In September 2013, the man's charred and dismembered remains were found on a road near Williams' Queensland home. It took police nearly 10 months to identify him.

When questioned, Williams confessed to burning his body and moving it; however, she denied being responsible for his murder.

In an earlier testimony, Williams claimed that she and Gerbic fought about his bisexuality. She alleged that he had a separate phone to hide his affair with another man. She also claimed they'd had a violent fight before his death—and that she'd lashed out in self-defense, only to come home hours later and find Gerbic decapitated and missing his limbs.

Williams proceeded to lie about Gerbic's death for several months, telling friends and family that he was away overseas. She even joked to a friend about murdering people and hiding their bodies on her property.

"[She said], 'This is a big land and I could cut up bodies and bury it here and no one will notice,'" her friend Elini Christensen said in court.

Late last week, Brisbane's Supreme Court rejected Wiliams' self-defense argument. In a verdict that took less than a day to decide, jurors found her guilty of Gerbic's murder, and a judge sentenced her to life in prison.
