A woman known now as Ba moved from Vietnam to Australia in 1983 and now she has eight grandchildren—including her favorite grandson William, who is gay.

She wants marriage equality in Australia so William can get married to his boyfriend Michael.

“Boyfriend or girlfriend is the same kind of love, there is no difference,” Ba says in a new video from Australia Marriage Equality asking Australians to sign a petition in favor of marriage equality.

Celebrities like Kylie Minogue have also spoken out about how marriage equality is long overdue in Australia. Last month Parliament voted down plans for a national vote to legalize same-sex marriage.
