The Australian version of The Bachelorette is asking for both male and female applicants to woo next season's leading lady.

It will mark the first time any iteration of the Bachelor franchise worldwide has opened the door to both sexes, and to a bisexual lead. The move is particularly notable as Australia does not yet have same-sex marriage.

Last year, two women on Australia's The Bachelor, Megan Marx and Tiffany Scanlon, emerged as a couple after meeting on the show. This year on the U.S. version, contestant Jaimi revealed to bachelor Nick Viall that she had dated a woman.

Applicants answer more than 100 questions, including:

* "How do you behave when you fancy someone?"

* "When it comes to love, do you generally follow your head or your heart?"

* "Tell us about your last relationship (Name, age, how long you were together, why did you split up?)"

* "Do you have any skeletons in your closet, e.g. jilted lovers, sex tapes, unauthorized photos?"

Contestants must also be between 25 and 35 years old.
