Salma Hayek, Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Catherine Deneuve and many more of the fashion elite were bought to their feet at the Balenciaga show today in Paris when collapsing benches landed editors like Carine Rotfield and Linda Wells and photographer Mario Testino flat on their backs. Fashion roadkill!
Luckily there were no injuries and, it must be said, the benches were certainly not collapsing under the weight of the pin thin fashion crowd.
Guests were happy to oblige when asked to stand for the show, one of the biggest of the week, and the snafu landed designer Nicolas Ghesquiere a guaranteed standing ovation.
As for the clothes, Ghesquiere once again proved himself a master of his domain, showing his usual futuristic silhouettes and sharply tailored looks with some new surprises like hot pants.
Following the show the emotional designer was meet with cheers from his staff as attendees wobbled off, no doubt questioning their affinity for sky high heels after standing at attention for 15 minutes.
