Let “Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar” Take You on a Much-Needed Holiday

The new Kristen Wiig movie looks like a camptastic treat.

This dark winter could use some campy, Lisa Frank-inspired fun, and new movie Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar looks like just what the doctor ordered.

In the new trailer for the film, we meet Barb (Annie Mumolo) and Star (Kristen Wiig), two best friends who decide to embark on a fun-filled holiday to Vista Del Mar, Flordia. The duo soon discover more drama than they asked for when they land in the splashy resort.

Judging from what we’ve seen so far, Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar is shaping up to a camp-tastic treat in the vein of Girls Will Be Girls and But I’m a Cheerleader. In addition to starring Wiig, the previous teaser for the movie featured the classic jam “Guilty” by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibbs, and there are multiple original musical numbers throughout, including one — “I Love Boobies” — that’s being submitted for Oscar consideration. Seriously.

In addition to the trailer, there’s also an exclusive new clip in which we meet the movie’s supporting cast. Among them are familiar faces like SNL star Vanessa Bayer and out comedians Fortune Feimster and Tom Lenk, with Lenk’s character proudly proclaiming he is not in Vista Del Mar to make friends.

Check out the clip below, and look out for Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar when it hits digital rental on February 12.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was "just the cutest thing ever."
