Barbra Streisand Recording Duets Album With Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Bette Midler

Producer Walter Afanasieff posted a photo on his website of Babs with himself and gold-touch producer Babyface (right), with the message, “Co-producing with Kenny “babyface” Edmonds the new Barbra Streisand duets album. Which will feature singers and musicians like Lionel Richie, Babyface, Blake Shelton, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Michael Bublè, Lady Gaga, Bette Midler, Andrea Bocelli, Beyoncè, Billy Joel, John Mayer and many others…”

Babs' publicist confirmed a duets album is in the works, but wouldn't identify any collaborators. Streisand last recorded a duets album in 2002, but it was a compilation of her work with veteran artists like Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond.

Afanasieff first mentioned the new duets project in 2012, teasing it would include Robin Thicke, Usher, Yo Yo Ma, Willie Nelson and Babyface. His Twitter feed lends credence to the boast, as it features recent studio shots with 'Face, Wonder and Shelton.

Tracks get recorded and cut all the time, so there's no saying who will wind up on the final release—though we'd love to see an all-divas album with Babs singing alongside Gaga, Yonce, the Divine Miss M and a few others.

Could a recording studio handle Madonna and Barbra in the same room?
