Tonight Barbra Streisand receives the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s prestigious Chaplin Award for her impressive body of cinematic work. And over the weekend, she was gracious enough to stop by The New York Times' ArtsBeat blog and answer some readers' questions.

Who says Barbra doesn't care about the little people?

One of the first queries posed to the La Streisand was also one of the most predictable—who she'd invite to the ultimate dinner party. Her answers leaned toward the cerebral: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Albert Einstein, Edward Hopper, Gustav Klimt and Fanny Brice.

The EGOT winner also revealed that she was "flattered" by the 2010 Duck Sauce song named in her honor, is still planning on producing and starring in Gypsy, and considers Funny Girl the movie she'd want future generations to remember her by.

But we were most surprised by Streisand's answer to a question about her biggest regret (once we got over the shock that someone dare asked her about failure.)

I always loved “Up the Sandbox.” It was a complete flop, but I still love it. What do I regret not doing? “Cabaret,” “Klute” and “Julia.” I was offered those roles before such wonderful directors were attached. If I had known that the directors were going to be Bob Fosse, Alan J. Pakula and Fred Zinnemann, I would have said yes immediately. But I’m glad my girlfriends Liza Minnelli and Jane Fonda delivered such strong performances.

Can you imagine Streisand as Fraulein Sally Bowles?
