Barbra Streisand Gets Apple To Change How Siri Says Her Name

"I’ve been saying this for my whole career."

As she recently related to NPR, Apple's Siri voice-command system has been mispronouncing Barbra Streisand's name.

Unlike us mere mortals, though, the celebrated performer decided to do something about it.

“She pronounces my name wrong—Streisand with a soft 'S,' like sand on the beach. I’ve been saying this for my whole career," Streisand explained. "And so what did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally, with the next update on Sep. 30.”

She says if the update happens, "I will be thrilled.”

We can't help but imagine how Cook, Apple's openly gay CEO, reacted when he saw Barbra was calling.

Streisand has been touring the U.S. and promoting her new album, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. She'll appear at a special fundraiser for Hillary Clinton next month in New York.
