"Beautiful As I Want To Be": A Young Trans Man Finds Inspiration—And A Connection—With Caitlyn Jenner

"You're allowed to make mistakes, you're allowed to explore your gender," says Zeam, 17. "You're allowed to have as many phases as the moon."

Logo is partnering with trans model/activist Geena Rocero to launch the exclusive web series, Beautiful As I Want To Be , which sees four young trans people sharing their journey and dreams for the future.

Each subject is paired with a mentor, who helps them express their authentic self and participate in a fun photo shoot.

In the debut episode above, we meet Zeam, a 17-year-old painter from Minneapolis. "I love art because art is a way you can show your pain and happiness—you can get them all tangled up together," says Zeam, who reveals he used to self-harm because he felt so out of place.

Zeam's partnered with Caitlyn Jenner, who shares her own journey to acceptance and readies him for his shoot.

"I think Caitlyn taking that leap of faith [in coming out as trans]—and knowing she's going to get a lot of flack for it—means she realizes this is bigger than herself. This is bigger than me."

Participants in future episodes of Beautiful As I Want To Be include Transparent's Trace Lysette and Our Lady J, GLAAD's Tiq Milan, and actor-producers Jen Richards and Angelica Ross (HerStory)

New episodes launch Wednesdays at 10am. Be a part of the conversation and submit a photo or video explaining what authentic beauty looks like to you, using #BeautifulForMe.
