Belgian Pop Sensation Stromae Has Conquered The World. Now He's Coming For America
The "Papaoutai" singer plays Madison Square Garden next month.
Stromae has been living on the cusp of international superstardom for a while now: The Belgian-Rwandan singer is well-known in Europe—and his big-name devotees include Lorde, Madonna, Kanye and Sam Smith— but he's yet to break through in the States.
He's hoping to change that with a new tour hitting New York's Madison Square Garden on October 1. With cybernetic gal pal Janelle Monae as the opening act, the historic concert will mark the first time a French-language artist has headlined the Garden.
To get America up to speed, Stromae filmed a video, which sees the dapper pop star teaching us how to play his breakout hit, "Papaoutai," in Times Square and other locations. Get to know Stromae below.
