Right-wing flapping jaw and failed Hollywood TV writer Ben Shapiro has taken a shot at U.S. Women's National Team soccer star Megan Rapinoe over her success.

Shapiro begrudgingly admitted the athlete, who just led her team to another World Cup win, is "a very very good soccer player"—no kidding—but said the real secret to her success lies behind her being a lesbian. Because, you know, no one gets ahead in America quite like women and the LGBTQ community.

"Megan Rapinoe is getting million dollar contracts because of her sexuality," Shapiro charged, offering no evidence other than his feelings.

"Let's not make any mistake, if she were a very good soccer player and she were not a very outspoken lesbian she would be getting fewer contracts. Because she is seen as a political figure," he said, going on to describe her as being like "Colin Kaepernick, but with actual talent in her sport."

Shapiro is apparently so far removed from talent himself that he can't even recognize it in others, as Kaepernick ended his career with an impressive 88.9 passer rating, which, putting him in the top 20 NFL quarterbacks of all time.

Shapiro then incorrectly claimed the United States at this very moment is the best time and place for women's rights, lesbian rights, and women's soccer, implying she should shut up and be grateful.

Meanwhile, conservatives like Shapiro are trying to take down marriage equality and are undermining LGBTQ rights across the board, states like Georgia and Alabama are criminalizing safe and legal abortion access, and a new report from the World Bank shows only six countries have laws protecting male and female workers equally and the U.S. isn't among them.

He concluded that Rapinoe was trying to get more money by claiming she's a victim and that America is "a terrible place," even though she has said neither.

No way this is just be about Shapiro's bitterness over a failed Hollywood career and his rampant homophobia, right?
