Exclusive: Diego Luna Plays a Trans Woman in "Berlin, I Love You"

The film follows in the tradition of "New York, I Love You" and "Paris, je t'aime."

For its latest release, the Cities of Love film franchise is fixing its heart-eyes on Berlin, Germany.

Berlin, I Love You comes from the creative minds behind Paris, je t'aime and New York, I Love You. The anthology film follows 10 separate tales of romance in the German capital and features an ensemble of Hollywood greats including Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Jim Sturgess, and Dianna Agron, among others.

And in a casting choice that will likely spark debate among LGBTQ circles in Hollywood, Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, If Beale Street Could Talk) portrays a trans woman.

In this exclusive clip, Luna's character gives a young male Berliner (played by Michelangelo Fortuzzi) a gentle lesson on how complicated sexuality and gender identity can be.

Berlin, I Love You will premiere in New York and Los Angeles and will be available on VOD Friday, February 8.
