It’s a gold-star day for Golden Girls fans: First we told you about Ross Mathews’ homage to Bea Arthur and Lena Dunham. Now comes word that the last remaining Golden Girl, Betty White, is joining her cast mates in Hot in Cleveland at a Golden Girls benefit reading in L.A.
Which character White will play hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re living for the idea of her tackling honeypot Blanche Devereaux. We also like the idea of Jane Leeves as Sophia. (Not sure why, just do.)
The one-off reading is being produced by the Celebration Theatre, which offers provocative works examining the LGBT experience, as part of its annual Vibrant Voice Awards on April 26. (Cleveland co-star Wendie Malick is a recipient this year.)
Tickets are available online at celebrationtheatre.com or by calling 323-957-1884.
