"Arrow" Star Bex Taylor-Klaus Comes Out As Non-Binary

"I am who I am and you can’t take that away from me."

Actor Bex Taylor-Klaus has come out as non-binary.

The 23-year-old actor— whose work has included regular roles on Scream, Arrow, and Voltron: Legendary Defender portraying queer characters— came out as non-binary on their Twitter, writing that they are "v enby"—a digital shortening of "non-binary" (pronounced N.B.)

Taylor-Klaus previously came out as gay in a similar way, back in 2016. When asked why they chose to come out at that time, Taylor-Klaus said that they were: "Terrified, absolutely terrified. Part of why I’m coming out is because there’s so much hate and fear in and around the LGBT community right now and it’s important for us not to halt progress out of fear... [It's] a scary time, but we need to stand up and say, even if you are afraid, I’m not afraid, or even if I am afraid, I’m strong. I am who I am and you can’t take that away from me.”

Still, Taylor-Klaus has a strong fan base that continues to support them, even after such public announcements about their identities come to light. But as Taylor-Klaus and other celebrities come forward and are candid about who they are, there's no doubt that their influence can help others live their truth as well.
