Bible-Quoting Christian Shoots Gay Couple With BB Gun In Minneapolis Bar: Today In Gay

A gay couple visiting Minneapolis from the East Coast were targeted and shot with a BB gun by a homophobic Christian man in a popular local gay bar.

Witnesses say Wayne Steven Odegard, 43, harassed customers at the Saloon on Hennepin Avenue, shouting homophobic slurs at a gay couple holding hands.

Odegard then pulled out a CO2-powered BB gun and fired it at a different couple. “He told me multiple times that I'm going to go to hell and he's going to bring me with him,” bouncer Tyler Erickson, who apprehended Odegard, told KMSP-TV.

“He recited a biblical passage—I think a passage from Deuteronomy.” Though Odegard's target says he wasn't serious injured, the pellet did draw blood. “If the guy was shot with the same gun in the face it would've gone right through his cheek," says Erickson. Odegard now faces second-degree assault and gun-possession charges.

But its even worse for single folks: Unmarried LGBT people are three times more likely to have an income near the poverty line than heterosexual and cisgendered people.

Transgender Americans, in fact, are nearly four times more likely to have an annual household income $10,000 less than the general population.

Anti-gay marriage march Mexico Approximately 30,000 people joined protest on Sunday against legalizing same-sex marriage in Coahuila, Mexico.

The state congress approved a marriage-equality measure 19-1 at the start of the month and it took effect on September 8.

Organized by the evangelical group Casa de Rescate Cristo Vive de México, demonstrators marched through the streets of the capital city,

Saltillo, carrying banners that read "Restoring the family" and chanting "true love is found in Mom and Dad."

Coahuila, located near the Texas border, legalized civil unions in 2007. Same-sex marriage is currently also legal in two other Mexican states—Quantana Roo and the Federal District, which includes Mexico City.

The ad (right) depicts a shower stall with the caption "A male wants to shower besides your 14-year-old daughter. Are YOU ok with that?"

MCPL director Barb Anderson has been quoted as saying"The greatest threat to our freedom and the health and well-being of our children is from this radical homosexual agenda that is just so pervasive."

In response to the controversy, The Star Tribune declared in a statement "In Minnesota, organizations and individuals of all kinds—left, right, other—know that if you want to reach the largest audience and have the biggest impact with your message, the best way to do it is advertising in the Star Tribune."

And they say print media is dying.
