Watch Celebrity Trainer Bob Harper Meet The Man Who Saved His Life

"I’ve never been at a loss for words, and I’m at a loss for words."

In February 2017 celebrity trainer Bob Harper suffered a serious heart attack, while working out at a gym, that left him unconscious for two days.

“I was in full cardiac arrest,” Harper told Savannah Guthrie on the Today show last year. “My heart stopped.”

“Not to be dramatic, but I was dead. I was on that ground dead,” said the 52-year-old fitness guru. “I had what they call a ’widow-maker.’ It was a six percent survival rate, and the fact that there were doctors in the gym when I had the heart attack saved my life.”

In his conversation with Guthrie, Harper revealed that he doesn’t actually remember the day he had the heart attack. “It was super scary for me because I woke up [in the hospital] and I was so confused,” described Harper. “I was like Dory from Finding Nemo because I had this short-term memory, so I was reliving the heart attack over and over again.”

“I was like, ’wait, why am I here? What happened to me?’ And ten minutes later I was asking the same thing and getting super emotional.”

Since he woke up in the hospital, Harper never met the doctor who saved his life—until his recent visit to The Dr. Oz Show.

“There was a doctor in the gym,” The Biggest Loser coach told Oz on Wednesday’s episode. “My coach, my friends, they were all there but I did not know about this other person that was performing CPR on me.”

Oz then surprised Harper by bringing out the doctor who performed CPR on him that day at the gym.

“It’s really overwhelming… I don’t even know what to say,” Harper said, visibly stunned. “I’ve never been at a loss for words and I’m at a loss for words.”
