Bob the Drag Queen Interviews NYC Nurse About "Dire" Hospital Scene

"This is truly unlike anything I've ever experienced in my nursing career."

Bob the Drag Queen has been interviewing queens on the new season of The Pit Stop, but on the latest episode of his series Only Child, Bob chatted with the real stars of the moment: nurses.

The RuPaul's Drag Race Season 8 winner sat down with his friend Matt, a nurse in New York City, to have him describe what it is like being on the frontlines in the "COVID capital of the world."

"I've been a nurse for about 10 years, and this is truly unlike anything I've ever experienced in my nursing career in all the years I've been working," Matt told Bob.

Matt usually works in a cardiovascular recovery room for patients who have had heart surgery, but since all elective surgeries are canceled indefinitely, Matt has been placed in a COVID-19-designated ICU.

"In the last week-and-a-half, I have had more patients die than all my 10 years of nursing," he revealed. "It's a very dire and upsetting work environment right now."

Even though things are grim in NYC hospitals, Matt said nursing staff are trying to stay positive. Things like New Yorkers cheering outside of hospitals have brought him to tears and kept his spirits up. However, Matt stressed to Bob that this is "a battle" and urged everyone to stay safe by staying home.
