“Bohemian Rhapsody” Is the Champion of the Box Office

The Queen biopic is king of the box office with a $50 million opening.

Fox's Queen biopic did more than alright. It won the domestic box office this weekend.

Bohemian Rhapsody, which stars Rami Malek as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, opened with a $50 million U.S. debut, reports Box Office Mojo. The debut broke free and performed well under pressure according to Variety. Last week, the film was expected to bring in around $35 million. Worldwide, the film, which had only a modest $50 million budget, has earned $141 million.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms starring Keira Knightly placed second with a $20 million opening. And Tyler Perry's Nobody's Fool fronted by Tiffany Haddish came in third with $14 million.
