Boy George upset a number of Lady Gaga's Little Monsters during an impromptu Q&A on Twitter this week, tweeting "I don't know her :)" in response to a question from a fan:

Gay Twitter was quick to rake George over the coals for the supposed read, which sounds awfully similar to Mariah Carey's infamous read of Jennifer Lopez — since at least the early 2000's, the elusive chanteuse has brushed off questions about her competition by claiming "I don't know her."

In response to George's tweet, a number of old his older tweets praising Lady Gaga were unearthed and shown as receipts. People demanded to know, 'How can you not know her if you've tweeted about her in the past?'

The Culture Club frontman obviously knows who Lady Gaga is. In 2012, he tweeted support for Madonna's claim that Gaga was perhaps heavily borrowing her material:

Boy George addressed the faux controversy in a tweet this morning, clearing things up and insisting he wasn't trying to read Lady Gaga.

"Silly trout! I don't know her as a person" he tweeted:

And once again, all was right in the music industry. At least Boy George has a sense of humor about it all!
