Brandy Belts Out "The Wiz" On NYC Subway Asking Straphangers, "Can A Sistah Get ONE Fan?!"

Fresh off her run in Broadway's Chicago, Brandy has still got showtunes on the tip of her lips. Unfortunately for her, the audience on the NYC subway is surprisingly more discerning then that of the Great White Way and ignored the singer's impromptu performance of "Home" from The Wiz.

An incognito Brandy boarded the MTA subway earlier this week. Why? Because Brandy, according to Brandy, is a New Yorker now.

In a blog entry titled "#aMomentinNY - Can A Sistah Get One Fan?" on her site, she explained her Carrie Bradshaw affection for the city as follows:

I've hung out in Central Park, Times Square, ridden the bus, and I've gotten accustomed to taking the subway too. I feel like a real New Yorker. I'm learning the streets and everything, y'all!

There's something different about NY. The energy and the drive of the people is just DIFFERENT. I like it!

Recently, Frank Silent and I took a little subway ride after I'd left the gym. Frank, his camera, and I always equal a good time.

I decided to hit the subway and sing my little heart out. You've GOTTA check out this video and see why this fun-filled morning left me asking: Can a Sistah get ONE fan?!

After belting out the first verse of the classic tune popularized by Stephanie Mills, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston, she turned to the unbothered straphangers around her asking, “What ya’ll thought of that? Ya’ll think that was cool? Hello?"

*Subway crickets*

Adopting a valley girl persona, she turns back to the camera declaring, "The people in New York are very rude, like, oh my God, I just sang from the heart."

“We’ve seen this a million times," one commuters tells her. "You’ve gotta do something different.”
