Brazil’s Anti-Gay President Being Tested for COVID After Dinner With Trump

President Jair Bolsonaro’s aide has coronavirus.

President Donald Trump shook hands and had dinner Saturday with anti-gay Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Today, Bolsonaro is being tested for coronavirus.

Bolsonaro’s press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten, who also attended the dinner at Mar-a-Lago, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to multiple news reports.

Trump told reporters during Thursday’s press briefing that he is not worried about the possibility of having the virus.

Brazilian officials have yet to release the status of Bolsonaro’s test. The scare comes just days after Bolsonaro dismissed the epidemic as a “fantasy.”

Bolsonaro is a known foe of LGBTQ rights. He used his first day in office to sign an executive order limiting LGBTQ rights. In a 2011 interview with Playboy, he stated, “I would prefer my son to die in an accident than be gay.”

Trump has faced other potential exposures to coronavirus but declined to be tested.
