"Breaking Bad," "Modern Family," Jim Parsons Win At 2014 Emmys. Yes, Again.

We'd like to say the 2014 Emmys were full of surprises, but mostly it was the same cast of characters: Modern Family won its fifth consecutive award for Best Comedy, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranson picked up their third and fourth Emmys, respectively, for Breaking Bad, and Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons took home his fourth award for Lead Actor in a Comedy.

Or maybe they re-ran the 2013 Emmys and we didn't notice.

Parsons was shown during the ceremony with his partner, Todd Spiewak.

Modern Family won three awards, including Gail Mancuso for directing and Ty Burrell for Supporting Actor (his second). "I don't know how else to say it, but Modern Family has been a big beautiful dream over the past five years, and we thank you for not waking us up," said creator Steve Levitan.

In another stunningly expected win, Julianna Margulies won Lead Actress Emmy for The Good Wife, declaring it is "a wonderful time for women on television." Especially if you're a woman named Julianna Margulies.

At least American Horror Story's sublime cast got some recognition: Both Jessica Lange, for Lead Actress in a Miniseries, and Kathy Bates for Supporting Actress, took home awards.

Cary Joji Fukunaga has everyone hitting IMDB as he took the Emmy for drama-series directing for True Detective. Those braids were unfortunate but everything else had us wondering why he was directing and not acting (or modeling).

And on a touching note, HBO's The Normal Heart won for Best Made-for-TV Movie, with director Ryan Murphy bringing a frail Larry Kramer on stage with him. Murphy dedicated the award to the irascible AIDS activist and begged the younger generation to become Larry Kramers themselves. "This is for all the hundreds of thousands of artists who've passed from AIDS since 1981," said Murphy. "Their passion burns through us, and this is for them."
