Brett Ratner has come a long way from one year ago, in GLAAD's world.

Ratner got into hot water a little over a year ago when he told a reporter "rehearsals are for fags." After the consequential uproar ensued, Ratner backed out of producing the Oscars. He apologized for his "dumb way" of expressing himself and said he didn't want his association with the 2012 Academy Awards to distract from the show.

GLAAD urged him to do more to show "anti-gay slurs used by bullies and bigots have no place in the world of entertainment." The film director responded by partnering with Tom Ford and GLSEN for a PSA about anti-gay slurs.

He is being rewarded for his efforts, literally. GLAAD is giving him an Ally Award at their Media Award ceremony in NYC on March 16. They are also launching an equality PSA Ratner worked on.

GLAAD's president said, "Brett Ratner’s dedication and leadership will inspire countless people to speak out in support of LGBT friends, family, neighbors and children."

Now everything is all kisses, butterflies, puppies and rainbows. With extra rainbows.
