And here’s The Weekly ShoutOUT™. Each week we’re going to focus on one out athlete/performer and feature a daily pic and career timeline. We’ll be showcasing the big names, but also the lesser-known gay celebs who deserve more recognition. This week we give a ShoutOUT™ to … Murray Bartlett.

One of Murray’s most high profile roles when he came to America was on Guiding Light, where he starred as con artist Cyrus from 2007 until the show’s cancellation. Here he is being surprised by a shaved baboon Daniel Cosgrove.

And here is his greatest scene on the show.

We’re shifting the focus of the latest Briefs List back to the greatest aspect of 80’s pop culture … the music, which remains the ultimate pop music decade. For this list, we’re going to focus on the ladies, and countdown the The Top 100 Hits Of The Ladies Of the 80’s. There are only two rules: all the songs had to hit the Billboard Top Ten, and they’re all from women … whether solo or with a group. Ready to jog your memory?

At #84 is … “Girlfriend” by Pebbles. Before she retired and became a minister, Pebbles had three top ten hits in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Her best song “Giving You The Benefit” hit in 1990 and can’t be included here, but “Girlfriend” and “Mercedes Boy” had nice rides up the chart, with ’Girlfriend” peaking at #5 in 1988. I still say she should have recorded a duet with 80’s pop hunk Dino. It would have been Pebbles & Dino! Get It? Get it?
