And here's The Weekly ShoutOUT™. Each week we're going to focus on one out athlete/performer and feature a daily pic and career timeline. We'll be showcasing the big names, but also the lesser-known gay celebs who deserve more recognition. This week we give a ShoutOUT to ... Rob Halford. Wrapping up our week with Rob, he left Judas priest in 1992, and over the next decade recorded with new groups Fight, 2wo and Halford. He reunited with Priest in 2003, and in 2011 they embarked on their "farewell" tour. Here's the 1998 MTV News report about his coming out.

And now we have the 50 GREATEST LOST HITS OF THE 90'S! I've often ragged on the pop music of the 90's for being an arid desert devoid of fun, but there were bright spots, including these 50 songs, which should have performed better on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Like The 100 Greatest Lost Hits Of The 80's countdown, this list is very female-centric (what can I say, I like rock chicks), but hopefully, some of these pop gems may trigger a long dormant memory.

At #2 is ... "Song Instead Of A Kiss" by Alannah Myles. The 90's started out splendidly for Alannah. Her self-titled debut album hit the top five and went platinum, and "Black Velvet" went to #1, won her the Grammy for Female Rock Vocal, and became a 90's classic. Her stellar 1992 followup album Rockinghorse should have cemented her stardom, but it wasn't to be. It stiffed outside of Canada (in the U.S. it didn't even chart on the Billboard Top 200 album chart) and the majestic first single "Song Instead Of A Kiss" went to #1 in Canada, but failed to chart on the Hot 100 or anywhere else. Maybe it was too radically different from the song that made her famous, but it didn't deserve to fade into obscurity.
