“Broadway Bares” Reveals 2019 Burlesque Theme, Mile-High Hotties
Please keep your seatbelts fastened! Turbulence ahead, especially in the exit rows.
The theme has been announced for the upcoming 29th edition of Broadway Bares, where the skies will be very friendly and begging to be flown.
More than 150 of New York City's hottest male and female dancers will board Broadway Bares: Take Off, a globe-thoting twist on the annual burlesque spectacular, produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
"Combining the sexy wink of classic burlesque with today's favorite pop music, Broadway Bares: Take Off will put the lust in wanderlust with titillating, travel-inspired striptease," according to a press release. "From a risqué red light district to a tantalizing taming of the bull; from a mega-hot Burning Man to a celebratory return to Stonewall, you're invited on a worldwide romp with sexy dancers as your frisky flight crew, tour guides, and cultural attaches."
Laya Barak, a dancer-choreographer who co-directed last year’s Broadway Bares: Game Night with Nick Kenkel, will return to helm this year's aeronautical adventure, joining Kenkel and Tony winner Jerry Mitchell as executive producers. Special guests will be announced soon.
Broadway Bares was created in 1992 by Mitchell, then a Broadway dancer, to raise money and awareness for those living with HIV/AIDS. The 28 editions have raised more than $19.1 million for BC/EFA. The event also receives generous support from presenting sponsor M∙A∙C VIVA Glam.
