The atrocities that gay men in Chechnya have been facing are serving as a reminder of how lucky most of us are to freely and safely live life out of the closet. Now, a new calendar featuring photos of naked models is allowing us to enjoy that very freedom while also helping to rescue gay Chechens from torture.
Photographer Balthier Corfi and stylist Todd Hanshaw created the 2018 calendar full of naked men as a way to raise money for Rainbow Railroad, the charity that works to help LGBT people “as they seek safe haven from state enabled violence, murder or persecution.”
Rainbow Railroad is working closely with the Russian LGBT Network to help provide legal assistance, visas, transportation and other necessities to the gay men currently being rounded up and tortured in Chechnya.
Corfi and Hanshaw are the founders of Collectif TBD Models, and said that as soon as the news about gay Chechens came to light, they knew they wanted to use their company to help.
The 2018 calendar is $35 and all profits will be sent directly to Rainbow Railroad. You can click here to purchase the calendar, and head here to learn more about how you can work with the charity to help protect LGBT people all over the world.
And check out a preview of some of the calendar’s photos, as well as some outtakes from the shoot, below.
