Candace Cameron Bure: Freedom To Discriminate Is What "Makes America Wonderful"

Not today, Satan!

The View's Candace Cameron Bure continued defending anti-gay bakeries that discriminate against gay consumers in an interview with HuffPo Live this week, where she claimed the right to discriminate based on sexual orientation is "what makes our country so wonderful."

Cameron Bure, sister of the supremely homophobic Kirk Cameron, outraged viewers in July when she jumped to the defense of homophobic bakers in America.

"It’s about first amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with," she said, invoking the baseless "religious freedom" argument and facing backlash almost immediately from co-host Raven-Symoné.

"I was pleased with, you know, how I handled myself," she told HuffPo Live Monday. "I'll always fight for religious freedoms, but I think people misunderstand that when you do fight for religious freedom, in that particular case, it doesn't mean that I personally would always respond the way the people in the case are responding."

She added that being able to "not associate" your business with people based on their sexual orientation is what makes America "incredible."

"If something, you know, conflicts with someone's deeply held religious beliefs, we should have the freedom to not have to deal with that or be associated with it," she said. "Just as on the opposite side, they don't have to either. It's, again, what makes our country so wonderful."
